🔰 Getting started in Canvas Guide Students & Parents
Below you can find some resources to familiarize yourself with the Canvas LMS platform.
Passport To Canvas - Student & Parent Training Course
For first time account activation purposes:
Whichever method you select:
On the login page, click Forgot Password
Enter your primary email address and click Request Password
An email will be sent to you, including a link to set your password
After setting up your password, log in to your account.
📘 Other Resources for Parents
In Canvas, parents function as observers. As an observer, you will have limited permissions that allow you to see what is going on in a course without interrupting or participating in the course.
See the Calendar
Observers can see all Events and Assignments due on the Calendar, filter the calendar view by the different courses the student is enrolled in, and view undated events and assignments.
See the Modules Page　
Observers can see how a teacher has organized course content in Modules.
View Course Announcements　
Observers can view course announcements by clicking Announcements in the course navigation.
Preview Documents in Course Pages
Observers can view documents in an inline document previewer and download documents to their computer.
See The Quizzes Page
Observers can see Quiz titles.
See Canvas Grades
When clicking on Grades, observers will see a list of the student's assignments and total grade for Canvas assignments only. Final summative report cards will be shared with parents via the Aoba Parent Portal.
