BYOD Program

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program

At Aoba-Japan International School, all of our learners from Grade 1 onwards are required to "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD). Our vision is to provide students with the experience and skills to thrive in an interconnected, collaborative, information-centric 21st Century world.

A-JIS is an Apple School, and all students should have either a recent model iPad or MacBook. Though ICT support is available, the students are to be responsible for the installation of all apps and software as requested by their Homeroom teachers.

Device Requirements

The below information describes the type of devices which students at A-JIS must have in order to participate in school curriculum and activities as part of the A-JIS BYOD Program. For any questions regarding the A-JIS BYOD Program please contact: parents.ict@aobajapan.jp

Grades 1 - 3

Grades 4 - 12

Any of the following models, version 2020 or later:

  • iPad Pro (4th Generation or Later)

  • iPad Air (4th Generation or Later)

  • iPad (8th Generation or Later)

  • iPad Mini (6th Generation or Later)

Any of the following models, version 2021 or later:

  • MacBook Pro

  • MacBook Air

Additional suggestions:

  • Disk Space: 32 GB minimum

  • Wi-Fi Model

Additional suggestions:

  • Memory (RAM): 8 GB or more

  • Disk Space: 128 GB or more

Additional notes

  • The operating system, security updates, and applications should be updated to the latest available versions.

  • Mandatory protective case and labeling of student’s name on both the case and the device.
