How to Change Default Sending Address in Gmail
If you have multiple Google Workspace accounts or Gmail aliases, then you will have multiple email addresses to manage.
What if you want Gmail to automatically send and respond to emails using just one of the many addresses you own by default without having to select it every time?
Here are instructions on how to do so.
Change the Default Sending Account in Gmail
To choose the account and email address that is set as the default when you start composing a new email message in Gmail:
1. Click the Settings gear icon (⚙) in your Gmail's toolbar.
2. Select the Settings item from the menu that has popped out.
3. Go to the Accounts and Import category.
4. Click make default next to the desired name and email address under Send mail as:
Change the Default Address for Replies in Gmail
To make Gmail ignore the address to which an email was sent and always use the default address in the From: line when you start a reply:
1. Click the Settings gear icon (⚙) in Gmail.
2. Select Settings from the menu that has appeared.
3. Go to the Accounts and Import category.
4. Make sure Always reply from the default address (currently: [address]) is selected under When replying to a message in the Send mail as: section.
