Virtual Reality

📘 What is Virtual Reality?
Simply put, a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional environment that can be experienced and interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way, using a headset or device that provides an immersive and interactive experience for users, allowing them to feel as if they are part of the virtual environment.
Virtual Reality (VR) headsets have revolutionized the way students engage with learning in international school environments. By immersing students in realistic simulations and interactive experiences, VR technology enhances education by providing a dynamic and engaging platform for exploration and discovery. This innovative tool enables students to travel to distant lands, explore historical sites, conduct scientific experiments, and engage in collaborative learning experiences like never before. As international schools strive to provide a global perspective and foster cultural understanding, VR headsets offer a unique opportunity to transcend physical boundaries and bring the world directly into the classroom.
📘 Why does it matter?
Virtual Reality is a fun, interactive and engaging tool that you can use to enhance your lessons. It opens up the door to new possibilities that where never before possible. In a world with terms like mixed reality, extended reality, augmented reality, and virtual reality, it can be overwhelming but educational to get students familiar.

📘 Did you know?

Virtual Reality technically started all the way back in 1830 and the history of how it became the technology we have today is long and complicated. Ever since the concept of virtually experiencing different environments and situations was thought up people have been steadily tweaking and improving the technology to do so.
The biggest issue was tracking where the player would be within a physical space, without this your brain would try to make sense of your orientation and you would lose your balance quickly. This is also one of the reasons that the first people that tried the previous versions of VR got extremely nauseous during the experience.
Luckily, all of these issues were solved throughout the research and development of VR technology and we now have a relatively smooth VR experience.
