AGC - How is Attendance Recorded at Aoba Global Campus?
Our school uses digital tools to record student attendance in real time during online classes, advisory, and scheduled events. Attendance records help us to ensure student safety, support academic progress, and communicate clearly between teachers, families, and the school office.
Attendance is taken automatically in each class session based on student participation in the event. This data is automatically logged in our system and shared with administrative staff.
How is Attendance Recorded?
🧑‍🏫 During Class
Students who join their Pencil Spaces class on time are automatically marked as Present.
Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the class start are automatically marked as Late.
Students who do not attend a scheduled class are automatically marked Absent
🏫 Outside of Class
Status adjustments may be made when appropriate.
Administrative staff can update a student’s status from “Absent” to “Excused” if a parent has provided advance notice (see: [How to Submit an Absence Notification via Parent Portal]).Session notes may be added.
Teachers may include short notes about attendance (for example: “doctor’s appointment” or “left after 20 minutes due to illness”).
Important Points
Attendance records are time-sensitive. Once a session ends, only administrative staff can make changes to attendance records.
Parents can always check their child’s daily attendance record through the Veracross Parent Portal.
If a parent has not submitted an absence notification in advance, their child will appear as Absent in the system. This may trigger follow-up communication from the school office.
Excused absences require communication from parents. Please submit a notice through the Parent Portal whenever possible (see: [How to Submit an Absence Notification via Parent Portal]).
Attendance data is reviewed regularly to support student well-being, learning progress, and academic reporting requirements.
