AGC - Technology Requirements for Online Learning

Online learning at Aoba Global Campus is facilitated over the internet, using a computer, leveraging a variety of digital platforms and resources in order to connect students, families, and educators across geographical boundaries.

In order to effectively connect and participate in online learning, families should ensure the following technology environment and resources are in place for the duration of their child’s studies at Aoba Global Campus.

Minimum Specifications

These specs are the absolute minimum to ensure stable video conferencing, screen sharing, and multitasking with common tools like Documents, Slides, synchronous video conferencing, whiteboard, and other core digital tools.

Laptop or Desktop Computer

  • Computer Operating System:
    Windows 10 or later / macOS 12 (Monterey) or later

  • Processor (CPU):
    Intel i5 (10th gen or newer) or Apple M1 / M2 chip or equivalent AMD Ryzen 5

  • RAM (Memory):
    8 GB

  • Storage:
    256 GB SSD (Solid State Drive)

Internet Connection

  • Stable broadband connection (minimum 10 Mbps upload / 20 Mbps download

Web Browser

  • Latest version of Google Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Safari or other

Peripherals

  • External or built-in webcam (720p minimum)

  • Microphone (built-in is acceptable, but external or headset preferred)

  • Speakers or headphones


Recommended Specifications

For a smoother experience dealing with more demanding tasks such as running multiple tabs, managing visuals, and multitasking effectively.

External Display

  • Full HD (1920x1080) or better

  • HD webcam (1080p or 4K)

  • Quality USB microphone or headset

  • External mouse and keyboard

  • Adjustable webcam arm or mount

  • Over ear headphones for noisy environments (consider noise cancelling features)

Chromebooks, tablets, and mobile devices (ie. smartphones) are not recommended as a primary device for online learning. While some materials and platforms can be accessed and will work on mobile devices, others may be inaccessible or deliver a suboptimal experience.
